Apocrita

Apocrita is targeting to be a flexible and simple application integration engine for small to mid sized businesses.

Application Integration

Apocrita does not aim to be a service bus or SOA broker, there are a lot of those. But if you have two standalone business applications and need to make them interact this is the platform.

At one end you might have an good old databasecentric application that can export information in CSV-files or make information available in a table. On the other end you might have this new cool SOA enabled cloud software. Apocrita will make them interact.

Integrate applications, is that really proper architecture design?

You might ask why someone would setup applications like that but in the real world, attempts to big bang refactor the business support systems often fails and instead changes are made one step at a time. Pascal-applications from the 90:s is mixed with cloud services based on Google Suite. In most cases one simply cannot just replace a working software very easy, and replace a working application to support integration is not a very good business case in it self (while securing integration when replacing a application on the other hand is important). If this is true, there is also a need to make applications from varying time periods work together.

A company with a decent ERP will most likely no need Apocrita, they already have a Service Bus or similar.

Small and Mid Size Business?

With small and mid sized business s meant that there will be a low or medium sized flow of information going through the engine. The capacity on a decent (or low) performing computer shall suffice to host Apocrita.
